Today marks the 6th year anniversary of the coordinated attack of the terrorist group Al Qaeda on the United States.

On that morning, nineteen terrorists affiliated with Al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. Each team of hijackers included a member who had undergone some pilot training. The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners (American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175) into the World Trade Center in New York City, one plane into each tower (1 WTC and 2 WTC), resulting in the collapse of both buildings soon afterward and extensive damage to nearby buildings. The hijackers crashed a third airliner (American Airlines Flight 77) into the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, near Washington, D.C. Passengers and members of the flight crew on the fourth aircraft (United Airlines Flight 93) attempted to retake control of their plane from the hijackers; that plane crashed into a field near the town of Shanksville in rural Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
Aside from the 19 hijackers, 2,974 people died as an immediate result of the attacks, and the death of at least one person from lung disease was ruled by a medical examiner to be a result of exposure to WTC dust. Another 24 people are missing and presumed dead, bringing the total number of victims to 2,998, the overwhelming majority of whom were civilians. The dead included nationals from over 80 different countries.
I remember that day, we were busy reviewing for our board exams when we received a text message from one of our classmates to turn on our TV set and watch the news. It was truly a horrifying sight, one which I hope and pray would no longer be repeated in history.
Why can’t we just all get along? Life would be a lot happier if we did. Right?

About Us:
This blog is a collaborative endeavor for the both of us, an attempt to express in writing whatever catches our fancy, on just about anything and everything under the sun. We met some 8 years ago, and have since journeyed together. We have set it upon ourselves to explore new horizons and take our journey online. This being a common avenue of expression for us both, you will be reading posts from our individual viewpoints. To help and aid you readers, we will make the explicit distinction on who’s writing what. We are new to this blogging thing, and we are slowly just learning to take our first few baby steps, so bear with us.

I am 28 years old, a Mechanical Engineer by profession and occupation. I was born in Dumaguete, Philippines, and practically spent most of my life there. For almost 2 years now, I have been connected with the pioneering geothermal energy company in this country, and I am based in Bacolod City. I consider myself pretty athletic, being into a lot of sports like basketball, lawn tennis, swimming and badminton. I am pretty laid back, and with too much spare time on my hands, I hope I can give this blogging thing a go.

A Medical Technologist by profession but, for some reason, I became a Production Officer of a Copyediting team by occupation. I was born in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, Philippines, neighbor of the surfing capital of the Philippines - Siargao Island - and home of Tinuy-an Falls, the “Niagara Falls” of the Philippines. I have stayed in quite a few places - Bislig (where I spent my first 16 years), Davao, Bohol, Manila, Cebu and Dumaguete. My immersion in different cultures, pace and way of living in these different, beautiful places may be one of the reasons why I lasted for 3 years in a BPO Company. The past 28 years of my life was spent mostly on lots of growing up to do. You can easily make my day by inviting me to a badminton game and then on a food binge afterwards. A nice novel would also do the trick.
