These past few years, I have been witness to some of our family friends who have lost their valuables to foreclosure. I am talking of items such as motorcycles, appliances, to more important things like their homes. I guess we have fallen into tough times indeed.
The prices of basic commodities are steadily rising. Rice, a basic need for the everyday person is now pegged at PhP 40 a kilo. Gas prices are rising faster than we can say ‘again?!?’
We Filipinos have a way of swaying like the bamboo when we are faced with trying times, but I guess this time, our resolve will be tested yet once more. I just hope we re evaluate our finances as well as our spending habits so that we can avoid having to face the prospect of foreclosure. For all those in need of help, perhaps they can check out some help sites online. After all, there is no place like home. Right?

As I had mentioned in a previous post in here, my parents had left for USA last month. They had been there from June 16 and they arrived here July 17th. As for me, I was out of Dumaguete since before they left, and wasn’t back until after they arrived. Oh well, the training for my new department has kept me quite busy the past few weeks, and I don’t see that changing for the next 6 months or so.
I just arrived here last Sunday and this coming Sunday, I will be leaving again for 1 month training, this time at Leyte. So I guess Borski and I have been making the most of our time for our preparations. We have decided to get a wedding coordinator since, honestly, we don’t think we could take care of the preparations just by ourselves, considering how busy we are at work and the limited time that we have..sigh…
Anyway, now that I am travelling quite often, I am thinking of getting a more durable travel bag since the last one I had got ripped, partly due to my unorganized packing style. Hehehe. Unlike Borski, I am a sanguine at heart, and she often is quite amused looking at the way I pack. I am thinking of buying Swiss Army bags, like these:

I guess you could say that is what we’ve been up to lately where blogging is concerned. I didn’t think we’d be this busy but I guess we have been these past few weeks. It has been compounded by a lot of things.
Firstly, Borski’s laptop got down with a virus and she had to ask their sysad’s assistance in taking care of it. Then there’s my ongoing training for my new department. Instead of my usual 9 days on/6 days off cycle, I am on a 28 days on/7 days off cycle while on training for 6 months so I have little time to spare. And not to mention that our wedding date is fast approaching!!! (whoah!) so I guess for now blogging has taken a backseat.
Anyways, to all you guys who have been consistently dropping by, thanks a lot. You don’t know how much it means to us. So, from the bottom of our hearts, thanks.

When you spend at least 8 hours a day in your house, this gives you approximately 2,922 house hours a year spent either indolently or productively busy. Alternatively, these hours make an occupant of the house have a favourite part (or parts for that matter) of a house. Mine is the living room. When I enter the front door, it’s the first room I see. Being a homebody, I love to just hangout at home. The entertainment appliances are located in the living room, such as the TV placed on a TV mount and DVD player.
I feel comfortable in the living room because it’s well ventilated and the ambiance is cool. When facing the living room window, the different flowers and plants in the lawn are visible. Lastly, it’s here where we discuss family matters covering a comprehensive range of topics, including food, family activities, relationships, kids, teens, faith, parenting, home decorating makeovers, finances, gardening, fitness and health. So what’s your favourite part of the house?

Water conservation has become a global challenge. Plumbing manufacturing companies are meeting that challenge with both awareness and action by encouraging their customers to understand how they use water in their homes and business.
Faucet.com offers an enormous selection of kitchen and bathroom faucets from major brands. But what catches my interest the most is the wide array of eco-friendly Kohler products with innovative designs, optimized performance and outstanding water savings!

Kohler faucets are engineered to be both reliable in performance and terrific in design. They are fitted with a 1.5 Gallon aerator, which allows the release of 30% less water than a standard faucet. So if you are looking for faucets made for greater strength and durability than any others and that which also let you save up to thousands of gallon a year on your water bill, just click on the above link.

I have recently read an article published in Medline Plus, which states that, “People with metabolic syndrome run four times the risk of heart disease and seven times the risk of diabetes”. It further reports that a person may have metabolic syndrome if he exhibits three of the following symptoms: abdominal obesity, high blood triglyceride levels, lower levels of “good” HDL cholesterol, elevated blood pressure and elevated fasting blood glucose.
This article concerns me because Nai has 4 of the 5 symptoms mentioned above. Fifteen days ago, he told me that he weighed 187 already lbs (I wonder what his weight is now?). This means that he is above the recommended weight for his height at his current age. I just hope that their drilling operations will stabilize soon so he will have enough time to exercise after a day’s (or a week’s) field work to go with his diet regimen, which I strongly believe does not fit his schedule. When he arrives tomorrow for his 7 off-base days, I will suggest that he change his tea to pomengranate or berry juice, eat more fruits like guava and banana, and vegetables like cabbage. In addition, while he can’t do some exercise at the moment, he can check out the list of best diet pills at consumerpricewatch.net and buy one of the safest, best pill to try out for himself.

There would be nights that I lay wakeful. I would then have left the bed and sat outside the veranda, looking at the sky. On those nights, I tried to run my thoughts of the things I have so far done and did not do, whether I felt good or bad about myself by acting the way I did or did not. On those nights, I look back and evaluate if the personal goals I have set for myself are worthwhile. I realized and affirm myself yet again that, with God on top of everything else, getting myself goals worth working for makes my life worthwhile. To share with you, I believe in getting myself or my family a project. The effect on me is that I always have something ahead of me to “look forward to”, “work for”, “hope for” and “pray for”.
There are times on those nights when I fear I shall not be able to go back working in a hospital again or see the people dearest to my heart in the Philippines as often as I want to, for that matter, when the time comes when God will send me to foreign lands or not know where I will go when I leave this world (and when?). I know that it is not given to people by God to know the ends of their journeys. It may be that I will never return to the places dearest to me. But how can that matter, if what I must do is here and now?
