The number 8 symbolizes wealth in Chinese, which is why the 2008 Summer Olympics will be celebrated in Beijing starting today until August 24, 2008. Today’s date not just reflects one 8 but three 8’s in a row. To add more oomph luck for good measure, the organizers added an extra eight by scheduling the opening ceremony at 8 p.m today. This means that, as of this writing, we have 30 minutes more to go to before the grand opening ceremony. Thousands of couples have also planned and tied the knot today, an auspicious day for weddings (and births as well). In fact, one of my colleagues exchanged wedding vows at 4PM this afternoon. And as I was sleeping my ass off to my heart’s content, I missed her ceremony because I woke up at 5PM already and I decided not to go there anymore (I know she will understand). The wedding ceremony may be finished by then anyway. I am sure that many banquet halls, hotels and gardens are flooding with guests at the moment. Lucky indeed for the owners!

As I may have probably mentioned here already, my brothers are into body toning and conditioning at the local gym. As for me, I haven’t tried it yet, but I have always been curious and wanting to try working out in the gym. But I guess I do have to think of my schedule which keeps on getting more hectic as the days pass by.

My brother and I have always been planning on buying some home gym equipment one by one so that we can work out in the comfort of our own home. I found this website featuring some strength equipment. I do hope we can have our own mini gym at home soon. Perhaps money earned from blogging can help us realize this into reality..hehe

Did you know that a kilo of chicken thigh now costs around PhP 150?

Yup! I learned of it when I went shopping for groceries when I was back home in Dumaguete sometime around the last week of July. You see, it has somewhat become a habit of mine to treat my siblings to an eat-all-you-can session of foodtrip whenever I get a chance to go home from my job.

Budgeting has recently been one of the issues that has gotten the spotlight, what with the ever-increasing prices of basic commodities nowadays. As for me, I am fortunate enough to be enjoying free meals and lodging here at our training site at Leyte. And speaking of free meals, I have had to strengthen my resolve to not overeat or else i might not fit into my barong when the big day comes..hehehe. And when I do get the chance, I try to grab every opportunity to be able to play badminton. So in a way, having free meals does have its downside.

Oh well, for those, having trouble with their budgeting needs, they can always check out these so-called budgeting software. I do hope it would prove helpful to them especially during this time of need.
