But it is also best that you scout for a nice place to live in, the surrounding also gives a big factor to the relationship, if your surrounding is relaxed then both of you will always have a sound mind for decisions. If you have that luxury, work the mortgage out and buy the place a few weeks before. It can serve as a guest house for the relatives that are coming over. The first few months would be the happiest as well as the most stressful so having a place of your own would really ease that.
