Last night felt peaceful, serene, the same yet oddly different from other nights. The feelings of difference came after the realization that we are all living in this world on borrowed time. I was thinking, “what if, like Ian’s friend’s brother, I die a sudden death at a young adult age?” and “what if, with new responsibilities, I die a sudden death with unfinished business?”. These are but a few of the questions that popped in my head last night. Regrettably, I realized yet again that if I cross to the other side of the river I will not be able to provide monetary benefit to my family and will not be able to specifically provide income to my family, burial, funeral and other final expenses because there’s just nothing to relinquish — at the moment. I want to leave in peace just as I strongly want to live in peace. I want that the basic necessities (e.g., food, clothing, shelter and secure education for my future children) and abstract entities (i.e., new hope, fresh courage, comfort and strength) will be available for my loved ones to carry on when I’m gone.
