It has been said that stress can go to your head. Experience-wise, it can really go to your head. Literally!
For the past 4 weeks now, I’ve been meaning to have my hair straightened. The hair specialist, unfortunately, told me the sad prognosis of my scalp’s condition. Ergo, plans of hair makeover were put on hold until scalp’s status is A-OK!
Work, family, money issues, weather and even our diets can put pressure on our scalps. Alcohol-containing substances, such as a new shampoo or leave-on moisturizer, may just be the culprit. If the latter is the case, lifestyle changes rather than creams and lotions may be required here. Regardless, the basis of treatment is to determine the cause and remove it. In my case, remove myself from the cause (so I was told)!
Anyhow, I am determined to pursue activities I know of which will have good outcome changes in lowering my stress enzyme levels. Top on my list is to spend time with friends — a chance to catch up on each other’s lives which does not entail a single centavo.
So, here I am starting my week right. I had the luxury to chance upon a relaxing chat with Let, one of our company nurses, before going home today. Our conversation surprisingly moved to rest and recreation, to which we both agreed is a “must-do”. Disregarding the need to pamper ourselves and giving back what’s due us will just lead to a more chemical-imbalanced body.
Let shared to me how she freed herself up from stress last Saturday. Together with her close friend, they swam to their heart’s content and played about happily in the pool at Swan Lake, a family-owned mini-resort in the City of Dumaguete which is open to the public. They ate chocolates and chips, and drank softdrinks. Boy, talk about indulging one’s self to the max!
We ended our conversation with plans on having an out-of-town excursion or camping. It would have been better if we have an RV (dreaming big here!) so that RV camping is within our reach; renting out a van that will serve as our transportation to and from the agreed location is probably about as good a deal as we’re going to get, for now.
Sun, sand, and sea, here we come!
