We have been approved by Payperpost!

Published by andoyitok under Blogging, Happy Thoughts

<Drumroll please>

Yeppers! We are happy to announce that we have been approved to get paid to blog by PPP. Whew! And we thought it was gonna be a hard process. We just actually submitted our blog for approval just yesterday and we got word early today that we were approved. So it was quite easy. What’s more, we would be paid to do something that we already enjoy doing — blogging :). For those of you who want to check it out more, check it out here: get paid to blog.

We actually got word of this opportunity from Borski’s bro and sis-in-law when we visited Davao City around August last year, and we jumped on the bandwagon immediately. We started on this project with that in mind. We wanted to be in on the blog network. One thing that we didn’t count on though was that blogging was addictive (yep! hehehe). And what’s more, we have made a lot of new online friends through this new hobby of ours. Through Payperpost, we hope to learn more about various products more as we write and blog about them, not to mention getting paid to do it. After all, we can’t have too much information right? I remember some quote about “..loving your job and never having to work another day in your life.”

Well, we absolutely enjoy blogging, and getting paid to do something that you love to do is like having your icing on your cake. Why don’t you check out their website here? So any of you guys out there who have a lot of spare time in your hands, why don’t you turn it into something productive and earn money while you blog.

Thank you Payperpost! :)

Long(ish) hair no more

Published by borski under Happy Thoughts

Nai had been sporting long(ish) hair again after his first stint of the same kind last 1999. Based on convention, the norm is for men to sport a short hair hairstyle. Then again, there are men who take the effort to maintain their long hair, for themselves, or for others. Although Nai’s hair is really not that long, I’m sure he wore his hair long for himself. I don’t know why he wanted to have that hairstyle when it doesn’t suit him. Unlike some other stars sporting a just-got-out-of-salon long hair, which suits the characters they play, his doesn’t complement his facial features and doesn’t go with his looks (he’s certainly not playing a character, too). His hair was curly and long at the nape, flat at the top, not to mention, it’s oily looking; for me, this gave me the impression that he had not taken a bath on that day or he just came from a badminton game.

Good thing I was able to convince him to get a haircut 3 days ago. Yippee, success! Mind you, a hotdog sandwich, spaghetti, French fries and mango shake did the trick! [Bribery has some advantages.] Really, he definitely looked more handsome, clean and neat with his cropped hair. I guess we must always keep in mind that hairstyles, together with the clothes and shoes we wear, also make up the basis of our style as individuals.

Before midnight falls..

Published by andoyitok under Happy Thoughts

Ummm..spent the last hour bloghopping..and then checked out the site if Borski kept her word on posting tonight. Hehehe..to find out that she must’ve slept on me once again. Just wrapped up our dota game with my bro’s classmates, and as usual, I sucked. Cge nalang ko ani ug kantyawan pati sa akoang mga manghod. I guess I just don’t have an aptitude for the game..hehe..

Anyway, Borski and I spent the day early with a mass first at Redemptorist after which we went marketing. The menu for lunch: nilat-ang monggos nga sinubakan ug karne. Yummy! hehe.. (i remember asking Borski sometime during the mass what the english translation for that was, already thinking of posting about it on the blog tonight..hehe..I din’t quite get her answer on that one..so…). Needless to say, I had a hard time keeping to my diet. LOL.

Anyway, whenever we go to mass, the kids from the neighboring houses always tag along and hear mass with us. My mom, who is a teacher in a university here, along with co-teachers and volunteer students have been doing catechism on the community kids since last year I think, and this is one of the tangible results of their efforts. It really is heartwarming thinking of the impact they are having on these kids. These same kids also help out at home during those times where there are special occasions in the house. I remember last year during my Lolo’s birthday, which was last Dec. 30th, we held a special birthday celebration, a kid’s party for them and my grandpa dressed up as Santa distributing goodies to them. My bro Ray has pics of that event, which I could hopefully post in here one of these days.

After the mass, the kids were still hanging by the house when we got home and I learned from Manang Edith (our house help) that during times like this, it meant that these kids were hungry and it was up for us to read between the lines :). So we prepared what little left was in the ref for them, and you could see in their eyes the delight in being served breakfast like this. Not having breakfast like this meant that usually they went home with a hungry stomach and not sure if there was one at their respective homes. We capped breakfast by splitting the Toblerone chocolate that Borski’s aunt from Germany gave me yesterday. I just hope we could’ve prepared a lil’ something extra for them that time. I was thinking had I known they would be having breakfast at home, we could have bought hotdogs, etc. What we had from the market was only for lunch as we were not thinking of our menu for breakfast. Anyway, we agreed with Nang Edith that the next Sunday I am home, we would do it.

It’s almost midnight now..so..I’m gonna post this now..or else I’m gonna have to change the title..hehehe..

Through the eyes of a child…

Doesn’t it ever fail to amaze you how innocent and unassuming children view things around them? Found these from a forwarded e-mail from a friend and couldn’t help but smile. Now we are posting these here as well..hope you get a smile out of these too. :)

Who’s excited?

I am. LOL.

Nai here. Am waiting for Borski to get off work as we’ll be attending my sister’s college graduation today. Today is also my dad’s bday so another foodtrip coming up. Actually, it is a triple celebration as it was also my other bro’s high school graduation the other day.

Lechon

Looking forward to this tonight… :-D

Also, I have been busy with the digital cam the past couple of days and really let out the (frustrated) photographer in me. I’ll be posting shots in here, so watch out for those too. Borski will be doing the photoshop editing as I ummm..don’t know how to do it yet..haha..but I’ve been reading an e-book already (For Dummies LOL), and I have set that as a personal goal for the month of March as something new that I wanna be able to learn. After all, it’s never too late to learn right?

Also, everyone is watching out for the most awaited rematch between Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao. I am sure people are gonna be glued to their boob tubes tomorrow. Come to think of it, even the crime rate goes down when Manny is fighting. I guess criminals do have a nationalistic bone in them too. I just hope when the fight is over tomorrow, people would be high spirited and happy, meaning, a Pacquiao victory. Of course, who did you think I’d be rooting for? I am a true blue Filipino at heart too. To read more about this bout, go here.

Speaking of Pacquiao and Marquez, I do have a funny story to tell about their first match..but I guess I’ll have to write about that in the next post as I am running out of time. So I guess I’ll have you hanging for now.

Have a great weekend you guys!

Keep your fork…

Published by borski under Happy Thoughts

fork2.jpg

“In all my years of attending church socials and potluck dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and say, ‘Keep your fork’. It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming — like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie. Something wonderful, and with substance! So, when I die, I just want people to see me lying peacefully in the casket with a fork in my hand and I want them to wonder ‘What’s with the fork?’ Then I want you, my grandchild, to tell them: ‘Keep your fork. The best is yet to come.’”

- Anonymous Grandmother -

I have always regarded a fork as a piece of equipment used especially for taking up food, not as something that stands for something invisible like the deep faith shown by the grandmother who knew that something better is coming.

To her, it symbolized an afterlife with God. To me, it symbolized God’s unconditional love and abundant blessings I have so far received in my 28 years of existence.

This is one of the real-life stories that I chanced to read but has never really forgotten. From that moment onwards, every time I eat and reach down for my fork, I am always reminded that the best is yet to come even though daily targets are not met, required productivity fall below the standard, absenteeism rate exceeds the allowable budget, backlog work is increasing and my favorite boots’ sole’s damaged :(. The list could be long but nowadays I prefer much to always continue my list of blessings. When you try to list your problems, the list eventually ends but when you try to list your blessings, it could go on forever! I say you try this and you’ll realize how blessed you are.

Following is my “top 5” list for today:

1) God’s guidance, love and blessings

2) Family (they are always there for me, encouraging me to succeed, lend an ear, share a word of praise, show me how much they care [of course, Buboy’s included here])

3) A good night’s sleep

4) Another day (to do good, opportunity to set right my mistakes, to enjoy the simple things that make me happy)

5) ‘Champorado’ (a.k.a. chocolate rice porridge)

All the above-mentioned blessings must be thanked for, treasured and shared, especially to our loved ones. For one never knows when it is their loved ones’ time to “Keep your fork” but when they do, make sure that you’ve said and done the things you would like to say and do to them. Have a great life and ‘Keep your fork’!

Bonding Time

Hi guys! Ian here. At work now, and its almost time for lunch here. Yey! Just got an SMS from my brother Andrew that they’re on their way here to Bacolod for some bonding time with us for the weekend. Actually, the 4 of them are coming over, our mom and dad, and our youngest brother Anthony.

We are actually quite a bunch, as Borski can probably tell you. 5 brothers and 1 sister, I the eldest (age-wise but not as far as appearances go..lol). Ray is staying with me, and he has just started training for work as a costumer service representative last week of Feb. I texted him already to tidy up the room in preparation for our “visitors” (I can almost already imagine the look of my mom’s face when he sees our room..hehehe), no response yet though, as I think he is still dozing off after getting off from work at 6am earlier today. I just hope he wakes up in time to clean up before they arrive.

And oh, bonding time wouldn’t be complete with the food trips, and I haven’t had time (and money) to refurnish our groceries and supplies, so I’m thinking of getting that done after work today, what with the appetites we have. :) I’ve got a problem with my schedule though as we have scheduled a badminton session today with Ray together with a couple of my officemates. I think they are holding a mini tourney today, friendly games they called it. So I guess I’m gonna have to do some time juggling today.

Borski has been having problems yet with getting her internet connection hooked up, so until then, I’m handling the task of creating activity on this blog and “pimping” it..lol..looking forward to having her work on here as I am sure she can introduce a lot of cool things on here.

Also, we would like to make our appreciation felt to the guys and gals who have been so warm and accomodating in teaching us on this blogging journey. You guys know who you are. From us to you, a big, warm hug :)
