Today, as always, I was a first-hand recipient and witness of God’s loving ways. My default priority today was to finish my balanced scorecard (BSC) for 2008. BSC is a performance management system that enables organizations like ours to translate the Company’s vision and strategy into implementation. A strategic approach is taken covering the 4 major perspectives: financial, customer satisfaction, business process improvements, and learning and growth. My objectives for the year were in line with that of my parent objectives. Together with the objectives are the action items for the year, with target completion dates. For me to be able to declare an objective as achieved expectations or exceeds expectations, I should have the necessary data to back my claim and that the data should better be at least meeting the target value sought for each measure.
Sorting all of 2008′s data out into one organized report is one tough job I cannot handle by myself. God knew this and sent three persons who provided me with the data, helped me with the computations, and guided me thru on the rating system. At quarter past eight o’clock in the evening, I was already 80% done with my BSC and rewarded myself by going home before the usual ten o’clock time out.
On my way out of the office, at the back of my mind I was wondering whether there would still be a public transportation I can catch at this time of the night. The source of that musing is the fact that our office is a 10-minute ride (or more depending on the type of transportation) from the city; and for the nth time today, He assures me yet again. When I was about to reach our office gate, a colleague drove up behind me and said, “need a lift?” I smiled and said “yes”, settled myself on my colleague’s vehicle and silently thanked God. He really provides, even before we have thought of it ourselves.
“Thank You, God, for those who share their knowledge and those who offered help.”
