Jumper

I am a sucker for good movies. Well, Borski and I both are. One of the things we like to do is watch a good movie together, sometimes marathon sessions of TV miniseries episodes. Currently, we are somewhere on the eighth episode of the second season of Grey’s Anatomy. I think she relates to it on a more personal level because of her dream to be a doctor.

Last Saturday, Borski took time off from work to unwind and accompany me on my trip to Cebu. I had to go back to Electroworld at SM Cebu to have the power cable of my laptop replaced. She wanted to tag along for the trip saying, “I need the change of scenery, it’s getting too stressful at work.” I am glad she came with me as we both enjoyed the trip even if it was just a quick in and out. We left at 5:15am via a “fastcraft” through Sibulan port, and an aircon bus was waiting for us on the other side. We were already in Cebu city around 9:15am and we had to wait for SM to open. After having my power cable replaced, we checked out the screening hours of the cinemas to see if we could squeeze in a movie before going home. Lucky for us, first screening of the movie Jumper was in time for us to catch the 2pm aircon bus ride back to Liloan.

Jumper didn’t receive good reviews from critics. Nevertheless, we were looking forward to watching it after seeing its movie trailer. The movie revolved around the character of David Rice, played by Hayden Christensen (the young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars 3 Revenge of the Sith), a jumper—meaning someone who can teleport through places, much like Hiro Nakamura from Heroes. The conflict in the movie involved the Paladins, who were the sworn enemies of jumpers, with the most recognizable Paladin played by Samuel L. Jackson (another admired actor of mine from the movies Rules of Engagement and The Negotiator). From the trailer, I was expecting to see a full-scale blown out war between the 2 sides, only to find out that it was all hyped up in the trailer. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed the movie, and on my personal scale, I give it a rating of 3 stars out of 5..hehehe..
