Skepticism on weight loss solution
Filed under: Blogging andHealth and Fitness

As I was browsing through online profiles of my friends on Facebook earlier today,  I came across a picture of a friend of mine advertising a weight-loss protein milkshake. Add to that, there was a question addressed to that friend of mine asking her if the advertised milkshake did not have any adverse or side effects when taken. To me, that is very dangerous what they were doing back there, as those information are only through word of mouth, and actually have no factual basis. Wouldn’t it be beneficial for prospective buyers if they could read on unbiased feedback of advertised products online so that they could make a much better informed choice? If you agree with me, then you would be pleased to know that some of the weight loss solutions do have reviews for people to read about and be better informed. One such example, curvatrim review, which affords the reader a chance to review numerous customer feedback regarding this particular product. After all, knowledge is power, right?

Face Value
Filed under: Blogging andHealth and Fitness

Lately, Borski has been complaining on the outbreak of pimples on her face. If there is one person who takes good care of her face, it would be her. Unlike me, she doesn’t scratch her face using unclean hands at the very first sign of an itch. Me doing that has often caught her attention on more than a couple of occasions. LoL. Unlike her, I just remember to wash my face before going to bed whenever there would already be pimples on my face. Unlike her, I also stay up late at night, and indulge in all sorts of fatty foods. I guess we should go out and get Borski an acne cream for her face. Despite that, acne or no acne, she is still my beautiful Borski, beautiful inside and out. =)

A taste of Cebu’s famous Danggit
Filed under: Foodtrip andMovies and Travel

Before heading off to our 5-day vacation in Davao last Saturday, Borski and I dropped by Cebu’s Taboan market to buy our pasalubong for our in laws.

We were quite surprised to discover that there was a very large price discrepancy on this commodity. In Market2x where I frequent, the price for a 100-gram pack is PhP100, so 1 kilo would cost around PhP1000. However, at Taboan market, the price for 1 kilo of unsalted Danggit was just at PhP540, or almost 50% that of the price in Market-Market. I guess that would be because they still have to ship it out to Manila, but I don’t think it would make that much of a difference in the price. Anyway, from now on, if we get a chance to pass by Cebu, I would make sure to drop by and buy this Cebuano native product.

Covering your ass

No, I don’t mean that literally. LoL. What I meant was – look out for your interests. Say, you got a car, or a house, or any asset for that matter. Naturally, it would make the most sense to protect those assets, right? Life is full of uncertainties. Take the victims of Typhoon Ondoy, for example. No one would have ever entertained the possibility that such a catastrophic event would take place. Areas normally spared by rising floodwaters were suddenly and without any warning, submerged in the flood. I doubt if even 1% of all those car owners even thought of contacting car insurance companies to avail coverage for “act of God” insurance. After all, if it would be an act of God, there is little anyone of us can do about it, right? However, it has been a learning experience, as majority of car owners now are open to getting this kind of insurance coverage. For Borski and I, well, we are still thinking of getting the car and finding the funding sources. The insurance can come later. =)

Taking the big leap
Filed under: Blogging andHealth and Fitness

As I have mentioned from a couple of posts back, our group/department in the company is in the verge of a major reorganizational change, one that would in a way be beneficial to us since our pay rates would be adjusted (thank God!!) so that there won’t be much discrepancy with the going rate in our industry. Actually, I’ve had a job offer to be pirated to another company last March, but after thoroughly discussing it with Borski, we decided to wait out this coming change in our company as this would afford me the opportunity to still have a pay raise and yet just be able to work in the country and not that far off, like in Indonesia/Malaysia, as that other job offer.

Now, this change has come about slower than was expected, and some of my colleagues who have not that long of a service record/work experience in our company were offered to resign and just be rehired on the spot, with corresponding pay increase already, and on a contractual basis. In that scheme, we would be foregoing our retirement benefit of about 2 times our monthly basic salary times the number of years of service, but we would be getting it back in terms of the larger base pay that would be offered us once we get rehired.

One colleague of mine has already tendered his resignation last month, but when I met him last week, I learned that he did not proceed with it as planned, since there were still issues regarding disability insurance that needed to be worked out, and considering that he had just gone through a major surgery on his right leg from a basketball injury. I hope this gets clarified soon, so that we could see if this option is a viable one for those of us who have less than 5 years working experience in the company.

Customized Alarm Clock
Filed under: Family andMovies and Travel

Coming from our 5-day vacation in Davao City from last weekend and the early part of the week, Borski and I can’t help but notice that despite the short stint there, we had grown accustomed to the “alarm clock” of DadMa there. I am talking about the music coming from the nearby mosque, about 2-3 houses away from their apartment unit. Everyday, at intervals of 6am, 12nn, 3pm, and 6pm, the music would not fail to sound off, which in a way, we would jokingly tell each other that it was already time for our snacks, or meals, depending on the time.

It was indeed a very relaxing 5-day vacation, and we got to indulge in the beach, foodtrip with Dad Tony’s homecooked meals, and a whole lot of snoozing. We hope to be back there in time for the new year’s celebration this year and hopefully spend the eve at Samal Island.

The battle of the bulge
Filed under: Blogging andFoodtrip andHealth and Fitness

No, I do not mean the famous battle from World War II. More like the battle with the lovehandles. LoL. Manong Andrew has just came back from his work-and-travel on-the-job-training experience and guess what! He has gained more pounds. When chided about it, he just tells us that that was his way of coping with the  loneliness being away from home, and food was his solace, in a way. However, as Borski and I were talking about this many times over dinner, we have both come to a common understanding that this was his way of covering up for gaining weight, also considering that he had only access to processed food.

Now that he is back home, he has been on a personal mission to lose weight fast. We had dinner together the past couple of nights and indeed he has been keeping a lid on his food intake, and has been religiously going at it in the gym for the past two weeks now. Way to go! Errr…and it’s about time I do too.

Furnishings

Borski and I are fond of watching TV while taking our meals. LoL. Talk about being boob tube addicts. Most of the time, we’d have to turn the TV stand around, and it doesn’t have wheels or anything like that, so we’d just have to drag it around so that it would be facing us. When we do that, we would hear the ‘screeching’ sound that it makes and are once again reminded to get a revolving TV stand.

Once we get our own place, how I would love to have that particular fixture in our living room so that we could turn the TV to face whichever way we want it to. We are still in the process of amortizing our lot so that is probably far off. However, that could change drastically if ever we already get the ‘big smile’. Hehe. I have been talking about this in my last couple of posts. Once again, you do not pay a price just so you could dream. It is free. LoL. But when this dream finally comes true, we could then get our hands on some modern furniture, just like the ones below. I hope it comes with the same view as the one on the picture too. =)
