Just last March, there were 3 graduates from our house. Remember that post about the lechon (roasted pig)? Yeah. That one. Hehe.
Well, now that they have graduated, it’s on to more serious decisions as to that course to take up in college. My brother Andrew I think has already made up his mind on his decision to take up Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM). Well, regarding that career track, I don’t know a lot of things, so it’d be probably best not to ask me about that one. LOL.
So far, in our brood of 6, I have graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ray has an Accountancy Degree, Ellen has her Nursing degree, while Clyde is still at work with his Bachelor of Arts degree (hopefully to pursue a Law degree after..hopefully). Then there’s Andrew with his preferred HRM course, and Anthony, well….I still don’t know what his inclination is towards. Anyway, he still has a year to think about it as he will still be in his final year in high school come June.
I remember when it was my time to decide on what career path to take, I had apprehensions then too. Questions like, “What if I don’t like my chosen course?” or “What if I make a wrong decision?” certainly have bothered me during those times. In my high school batch where there were only a total of 20 of us who were males, certainly no one would have brought up the career choice of being an ultrasound technician. Heck, we didn’t even know where to find ultrasound schools or sonography schools at that time. Those words were not yet in our vocabulary during that time. LOL.
Anyway, out of the 20 males, 15 of us took up mechanical engineering and graduated. Talk about joining the bandwagon. Well, it may appear that way, but I knew early on what my inclination was towards, and what got my brain all worked up. It has been many years since I have graduated, and I have never regretted having made that decision.
For me, it was just simply a matter of “knowing what you want and going for it.”
