For Christmas, Borski and I got ourselves techie gifts since our Sony Ericsson P910i units are already close to being extinct. But mind you, those units have served us pretty well since we got them in 2005 i think. It is a reliable unit, and quite durable. My only problem with it is that we can’t get a spare battery and my battery has been dying out on me rather fast these days, which is only acceptable considering the long and fruitful service life that it has provided us.
Now, on with my rant for this morning. As I said, we got ourselves two Blackberry Storm 2 units last Christmas. I could honestly say that I did lack in doing background checks on the performance of the unit, or a more thorough review, as I may have missed out problems regarding the unit until I just recently I have experienced the problem firsthand, only to find out that there were a lot of complaints already on the web. I do remember googling for “Blackberry Storm 2 problems” but somehow didn’t find enough convincing results to deter me from purchasing them. I guess I was too excited and impulsive for my own good.
One thing I don’t like about the unit is that, unlike Nokia and other more common brands, to access the net on the unit, you would have to enroll in the Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) to be able to do that, which you would need to pay on top of your regular mobile phone plan, whereas if it were, say a Nokia E72 phone, I would just be able to browse the net while just consuming my mobile plan consumable amount. Had I known that were the case, I wouldn’t have been so optimistic. Once again, it was a case of leaping before you looked. LoL. I guess I am learning from the school of hard knocks.
Another thing that has been eating up at me at the moment is the problem on dropped calls. When I went home for the Christmas holidays, I started experiencing dropped calls at the 20-30 second time duration of a call, which is so annoying to say the least!!! And as I googled the keywords “Blackberry Storm 2″ + “call failed”, guess what I found…there were already a lot of complaints on this issue, even from people locked up to a particular mobile carrier.
For now, I am at a loss as to how to solve this problem. I should just have gotten an Iphone instead. Grrrrr

Although it is nice that the charging port is on the right, it really sucks when you try to put the phone in a cradle in the car and charge it at the same time. The power cord gets right in the way of the right side of the cradle.
I suggest that you sell it and get a Blackberry Bold.
IMHO, getting an iPhone is a bit overrated. I’d suggest any of the Nokia E-series phones who need to go online often or for those who love eBooks and stuff like that.
Don’t get me wrong, an iPhone is great.. especially if you get the iPhone 3G 32Gig one.
Ooh check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fl7cqFQatP4
i haven’t tried that one out yet my friend. not so mobile..charging can wait until i get home. LoL.
can’t watch the youtube vid, bawal at work. Just a query, when you browse through the E-series Nokia units, do you have the option to ‘view the whole site’? much like the way it appears when you are on a pc? or is it just limited to phone browsing..like the wap environment?
what about on the bold? is that what you are using? it’s a good thing the supplier from whom i got my unit agreed to offer a refund on the unit. although he has told me that they have already found a fix for my problem..seems they just need to install a patch to solve the call dropping issue.
I want to say that every day be happy because no any problem solution if we not be happy.
